Green Barbecue Friendly Plates & Utensils — Oxymoron?

1 Aug

I thought so until I found these!

One of my favorite things about summer is grilling out with my friends and one of my least favorite things of any season is doing dishes.  I sort of figured there was no way around doing plenty this summer unless I resorted to paper plates.  I hate paper plates.  And I know that hate is a strong word, but I hate them.  I get a little obsessive in recycling paper products, and by a little a mean that I even recycle those little frayed edges from notebook pages that have been ripped out of the spiral.  I know, I might have OCD…

These 100% bamboo plates and utensils are organic certified and FDA approved.  Being made from bamboo they are easily renewable and biodegrade in about 4 to 6 months of disposal.  Unfortunately, they are not as cheap as paper plates but they are more durable and friendlier on my conscience.  They’re available at a few locations including one of my personal favorites Crate&Barrel.  I also found a set of 8 9″ plates at Amazon.com for $9.95 and 24-piece utensils for $4.49.

Check them out at bambuhome.com. I did notice that these were mentioned on a fellow bloggers site a few years back.  If you want to check out the post it’s at inhabitat.com/bamboolicious.
